The tariff rate on 1300 different products of Chinese origin may increase by 25%. In retaliation for “laws, policies, practices, or actions of the Government of China that may be unreasonable or discriminatory and that may be harming American intellectual property rights, innovation, or technology development” the US Trade Representative issued a Notice of Determination and Request for Public Comment. The USTR will accept comments from interested persons for 30 days, then make a determination on which products may be subject to the increased tariff rate.

The USTR notice and list of products subject to the tariff increase is here: USTR Notice of Determination re China IPR The list focuses on chemicals, medicines, machinery, electronics, and vehicles, which are said to have benefited from intellectual property misappropriation by China and Chinese companies.
